The MDQI Annual Awards of Excellence is a distinguished event that honors outstanding achievements in Maryland’s transportation industry. This prestigious ceremony recognizes exemplary projects, innovative solutions, and industry leaders who have made significant contributions to advancing quality, safety, and efficiency in transportation infrastructure. With participation from state partners, contractors, engineers, and industry stakeholders, the event highlights the best in design, construction, and project delivery. The awards celebration features a formal presentation, industry recognition, and networking opportunities, showcasing the collaborative efforts that drive progress and excellence in Maryland's transportation sector.

This award was initiated in 2009 to honor Pierce J. Flanigan, III who was a great contractor, leader, and a true friend to the highway industry in Maryland and beyond. Mr. Flanigan was president of P. Flanigan and Sons, Inc.

This award was initiated in 2024 to honor Joseph Sagal II in his service to the City of Baltimore and his outstanding contributions, unwavering commitment and exceptional leadership in the transportation industry. His dedication and achievements have left an indelible mark on the industry, the City of Baltimore, the State of Maryland and the MdQI.

This award was initiated in 2024 to honor Raja Veeramachaneni in his over 20 years of dedicated service to the Maryland State Highway Administration along with leading the way with innovative ideas and practices in support of Maryland's Transportation infrastructure; including his exemplary service on the MdQI Steering Committee and Innovation Subcommittee.
