Letter to Governor and Maryland General Assembly

On January 29, 2010 a letter was sent to Governor O’Malley, the MD General Assembly and Maryland transportation Administrators concerning the current economic condition of the Transportation Construction Industry in Maryland.

Please read the attached letter and we encourage you to contact the Legislature with similar letters.

Extension of ESC Yellow Cards Expiration Date

State Highway Administration has issued a letter informing those that have taken the  SHA Erosion & Sediment Control Certification Program and have cards that are expired or are about to expire are extended until January 31, 2011.

US 40 Design Build Project Meeting

SP – 465 Miscellaneous Coatings for Metal
SPI – 605 Metal Traffic Barriers
SPI – 606 Permanent Traffic Barrier End Treatments
SPI – 914 Chain Link
SPI – 917 Fence Miscellaneous Protective Coatings
SPI – 918 Traffic Barriers

All these changes are related to the new 465 Specification and should be reviewed together. Please send any comments you may have to Al Jacobs by March 2, 2010.

Also, please review and comment on Spec. 114 - Truck Staging Areas and Idling Requirements.  Please send comments to Al Jacobs by February 26, 2010.

In less than two weeks elected officials will return to Washington. It is vital that you and your employees communicate with them the need for a transportation bill.

Please contact your Senators and Representatives and urge them to make passing a long-term reauthorization bill a priority for 2010.

Please mark your calendars. The Primary election will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. A list of Polling place locations are available from the Board of Elections.

Those Registered Voters who wish to vote by Absentee Ballot may do so by mailing an Absentee Ballot Application to the address on the form. Absentee Ballots must be received no later than September 7, 2010.
